This is my most favorite trip of all my travels with Vantage. Punta Arenas is very historical for me since they celebrated 500 years when Ferdinand Magellan set foot on this port and named the Strait of Magellan and had the best king crab empanada ! Remota Lodge is excellent and the food is to die for. Rapa Nui is very interesting and what a lovely sunset with the Moai as a background. Very memorable trip and lucky to visit it before the corona virus pandemic!
We recently returned from our trip across Patagonia, what an adventure! Even though Chile is protesting, we always felt safe. Our guide was amazing and she made this experience unforgettable. The beauty of this country is breathtaking and the people were so friendly. Memories to last a lifetime.
Absolutely amazing trip---can't say enough good things about it! Patagonia was wild and wonderful; the scenery was beautiful beyond belief. Loved everything about the trip and gladly would have spent more time there. Paula Rivera, our program director, is to be commended---a real treasure in all respects. The Rapa Nui (Easter Island) extension was the highlight of the trip!!! Had to convince husband to do the extension and now he cannot stop talking about how wonderful it was. Our local guide, Paca. was perhaps part of the reason our time spent on Rapa Nui was so special, because of his knowledge of the culture and obvious love and pride of country. The history of the moai was fascinating and a wonder to behold. There was so much to do there that we wished we could have stayed a few days longer to really appreciate all that Rapa Nui had to offer. There were only 4 of us (including Paula, our PD), and we had such a good time. We were sorry more of our original Patagonia group did not elect to take this extension because we know they would have enjoyed it immensely. Vantage needs to offer more positive info on the Rapa Nui extension. This trip rate very high on our list of favorites (next to Peru and Machu Picchu and the Amazon and Galapagos extensions). Did the Peru trip twice!
WOW! A great trip with surprises everyday with culture and beauty. Patricio, our leader for this wonderful adventure, was exceptional. The hotels were superb and located so that you could explore on your own in nearby towns or cities. Bring your walking sticks and warm layers of clothing for the Patagonia part of the trip and be prepared to be amazed!
I believe I had written a review. However, I want you to know that this trip was very enjoyable; I found Chile both interesting and beautiful. Vantage's choice of hotels was excellent especially the one near Patagonia and our Tour Manager ( Christian) was so professional, organized, fun to be with and most helpful. I fell and broke some bones in my foot and needed to see doctors. My trips to the hospitals were very well coordinated by Christian & he was exceptionally kind as he assisted w/logistics, language etc. My trip was initially delayed on the front end due to a Boston blizzard and I met the group two days late + my fall. However, I am still glad I took the trip. I rated the "cruise director" as excellent... while we did not have cruise director as such, as this was a land tour, I used that category to rate our Tour manager as excellent. I do recommend buying the travel insurance for any major trip; never expect problems but they can/do happen. I have been getting reimbursed albeit w/ a lot of paperwork.
I thoroughly enjoyed Across Patagonia, as I have enjoyed all my other tours with Vantage. Christian Von Johnn was a very efficient and knowledgeable expedition leader. Case in point: I was not able to board the afternoon flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt. I called him, and he and Maria were able to get me a seat on the early evening flight. Big plus for Vantage and its staff.
What a great trip! Chile is an exciting country and very comfortable to travel in -- even not being able to speak Spanish. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the extension to Rapa Nui is not to be missed. Santiago is a vibrant, lively city. Guide Christian is one of the best Adventure Leaders I've encountered -- he worked hard to make sure things went smoothly and made sure that everyone in the group was taken care of. His upbeat attitude helped us get through some weather-related disappointments, and he made sure we were content during our afternoons/evenings at leisure. The local guides were also terrific and added a great deal to our enjoyment of the trip. If you don't mind a bit of wind, this is the trip for you!
This was one of the most beautiful and interesting travels I have taken. The countryside with the mountains and glaciers were astounding. Great small group size-only 19 made getting to know each other much nicer. Patricio should be cloned into multiple guides as he was fantastic and most enjoyable to travel with. Great hotels and expedition staff were great.
Our twelfth trip with Vantage was perhaps the best yet. The water falls, rock formations, glaciers, and accommodations were outstanding. Our Adventure Leader went above and beyond to assure everyone had the opportunity to see the sights regardless of their physical limitations. Hopefully on our next trip to South America, Patricio will be our Adventure Leader. The extension to Easter Island was even better.
Great tour with excellent hotels starting with the well-located Cumbre Lastarria in Santiago, st. Our tour guide, Gaston McKay, was exceptional. I enjoyed the optional tours: Easter Island and Valparaiso,
Our guide Nadia Gibson was one of the best guides we have ever had. She kept everything running smoothly and did so many little extra things to make the trip memorable. She would buy us treats to have us taste local flavors. She found ways to have us interact with local people. I wanted to be sure you knew what a fantastic job Nadia does, as does our guide Henri from Easter Island. He was excellent and gave us a lot of interesting information about the island and its people. It's an amazing place and we feel so lucky to have been there. We think Across Patagonia is one of the best of your many great journeys.
