Activities & Entertainment
This Trip is Rated Moderate
While some of your Moselle & Rhine river cruise's included sightseeing tours involve walking — occasionally on cobbled or uneven streets, or along unpaved vineyard paths — there are usually alternative activities or modes of transportation for those who prefer not to walk. If you wish to extend your walks, your Cruise Director or local guide can suggest scenic routes nearby. At the same time, there is plenty of time to relax aboard your river boat, and should you wish to forego any activity, you are always at liberty to do so. For the fullest enjoyment of this trip, we recommend that you be in reasonably good health, and able to walk at least a mile unassisted.
Onboard Cooking & Cocktail Classes
Savor 5-star dining onboard Vantage river ships. Get ready to learn all the tricks of the trade — and enjoy face time with our world-class chefs — when you sign up for complimentary onboard cooking classes in our Captain’s Clubs. Depending on the season and region you’re sailing, enjoy two hands-on presentations spotlighting local produce, as the chef whips up main dishes and savory soups, followed by a delightful tasting session. Held during lunch- or dinnertime, depending on your sailing schedule, these meals will replace those served in the main dining room. Each cooking class meal comes with food for thought, too — the conversation of fellow passengers in an intimate group of just 30. Don’t miss out on your chance to raise a glass, either, in cocktail-making demonstrations and tasting in your ship’s bar. (Cocktails available for purchase.) Salut!
Let Us Entertain You
Throughout your European river cruise, you’ll enjoy local arts and entertainment both on shore and aboard ship. During a special event at Reichsburg Castle in Cochem, you’ll meet and interact with the “count,” who’ll be dressed in full costume — plus enjoy a glass of wine and a guided tour of the castle. And for your listening and dancing pleasure while aboard ship, Vantage offers an array of handpicked performers and entertainment, including a sundown serenade featuring a German folklore musical duo; a modern strings showcase of popular and familiar favorites; a cheeky, elegant trio will delight you with songs from the ’20s to the ’50s; and professional dancers will teach the basic steps of the foxtrot, cha-cha, and more, during a German party night. Other onboard entertainment includes movie night and a show performed by the crew.
